Auto Body Facts

Have you ever had to face to receive his car repaired after an accident? Want to be prepared in case that day never comes? So this series of questions and answers is for you. Stay calm as possible.
Call the police immediately. It will write a report which will have a police report number you need.
Check for injuries. The life and health are more important than damage to vehicles. If in doubt, call a ambulance.
If an accident is minor and no serious injuries, most states will allow their vehicles to a safe place, rather than risk being in the movement of traffic . Check your statements laws.
Turn on hazard lights. If warranted, and possible, use cones, warning triangles or flares to safety. Turn off the engine so that not a risk sparking immediate fire.
Make notes on the accident, including damage to all vehicles involved. If the name on the registration of cars and / or insurance policy is different from the name of the driver, establish the relationship and write it down. Obtain information from witnesses, if possible, too. Exchange information with the other party. Names, phone numbers, insurance policy information, tag numbers, VIN numbers and make vehicle.
Do not sign any document unless a police officer asks you to sign a ticket.
Be polite But never say no other drivers or police that the accident was his fault, even if you think it is. Similarly, not accuse others of being guilty drivers at this time. It is only prudent to point out the facts. Limit the discussion of the accident to the insurance agent and police.
If you have a camera handy, and it is safe to do so, it may be useful for photographing the accident scene. You want to get pictures of cars involved, the people, and especially the damage before it is removed from the scene. Photos of skid marks or railings or other objects that were part of accidents are also useful.
If possible, do not leave the accident scene before police and other drivers do.
Lastly, remember that to get the facts is very important, the accident investigation should be left to police officers and insurance companies.
Do not accept offers to settle for payment on the ground without careful consideration. You may be responsible later for the same damages.

The importance of a radiator and water pump in a cooling system

An engine continuously works as the vehicle is running. Operating conditions are not as ideal as one may think, though. Constant operation generates a great deal of heat that other nearby components are subjected to the heat as well, accidentally causing damage to other system components. To avoid such problems, car companies like Audi came up with efficient cooling systems. One of the main components of an Audi cooling system is admittedly the Audi radiator and Audi water pump. Bearing the tag line Advancement Through Technology, Audi s cooling system is simply one example of how well-made parts help maintain quality engine performance.
One of these is the radiator, an admittedly essential part of the engine s cooling system. Audi radiators are connected to channels that run through the engine and cylinder head, through which a liquid is pumped. This liquid is commonly regarded as a mixture of water with ethylene glycol. Some refer to it as antifreeze. The fluid moves in a closed system to the engine from the Audi radiator. Upon reaching the engine, the fluid successfully redirects the heat away from the engine s many components, principally bringing transferring the heat to the bottom of the radiator where it dissipates. Audi radiators are usually mounted behind the vehicle s grille, so that the outside air driven through the radiators by way of the car s forward motion may aid in preventing engine overheating.
Another important component which also helps the Audi radiator in cooling the engine is the Audi water pump. A water pump is essential in keeping coolant circulation throughout the vehicle s engine steady and efficient. The water pump delivers the coolant through various blocks and heads as well as to the Audi radiator. In this case, if an Audi water pump does not function well, there is a great possibility that engine overheating may result, which may also lead to warped heads and blown head gaskets. Like all other components in a vehicle, the cooling system requires regular maintenance so as to deliver lasting quality engine performance. EXPERT BLOGGERS SAY ACCORD HYBRID PROGRAM PROVES HONDA S INSANITY

Citing poor sales, Honda announced it was discontinuing its line of Accord Hybrids. Such a move, has attracted a large amount of speculation on the mental capacity of those in charge at Honda. For instance, wasn t the Honda Accord just named the official pace car of the 2007 IndyCar season? Widely-read environmental blog Accuweather informed their readers that all Hybrid Accords will be discontinued “Honda has dropped the line entirely, but will continue its line of Civic hybrids which continues to do well.” The author of the post, Laura Hannon, speculated that Honda s attempt to design and market a hybrid car to consumers who weren t typical purchasers of a Hybrid proved to be the Accord s undoing. “The Accord hybrid focused more on producing power than fuel economy, which I believe is the reason for its lack of success,” Hannon continued, “I don t think most people looking at hybrids are in the market for a performance sedan with a lot of extras.” Hannon put together a loose profile of the typical consumer in the market to purchase a hybrid. Dividing them into two slightly overlapping groups, she described them as “people who care about the environment and/or people who are willing to pay more for a vehicle upfront which will save money on gas with improved efficiency.” Gristmill, a respected environmental news blog, concured with Hannon s position. They commented on Honda s recent move with a tongue-in-cheek reply, “Honda is ditching the Accord Hybrid because it discovered that ... are you sitting down? ... People who buy hybrids like good gas mileage.” One of the most amusing aspects of the demise of the Accord Sedan was noted in a post from the widely-read AutoBlogGreen. It announced in March that Honda would be promoting their Accord Hybrid by using it as the pace car during the upcoming IndyCar Season. They declared that the car was a natural fit for the Indy circuit because “the Accord, and especially the hybrid version, is largely considered Honda s top of the line model, and the highest-performing version of the Accord.” Since Honda is remaining increasingly tight-lipped on the whole affair, we can only speculate that the whole Honda hybrid program is going down the toilet. High Gas Prices = Lesser Travelers in North Carolina

The Memorial Day long weekend is almost just right about the corner but in a study done in North Carolina, it seems like there are going to be less travelers who would be taking part in taking a vacation. The study did reveal that around seven out of 10 drivers from the mentioned state have changed their plans for the long weekend. This group has also divulged that they have also changed their plans of traveling for the last 6 months. They are also saying that they would be doing less driving this summer time. The reason for such changes in driving behavior is because of the rising gas and fuel prices.
The study was conducted by Brogan & Partners and this is a marketing firm based in Raleigh. The whole deal was conducted through a telephone survey that had 600 persons as respondents.
Jim Tobin is one of the partners at Brogan & Partners and he shares, Disposable income is a zero-sum game, so when high gas prices take a lot more money out of people s pockets, they have to make adjustments elsewhere. It was a bit surprising to see so many people driving less and such a large majority postponing other purchases. Yes, consumers who took part of the survey did also disclose that because fuel prices went up, they had to lessen their purchases of other things that they needed or wanted like perhaps those new Nissan doors that they were eyeing or maybe a couple of new window motors that they could use for their vehicles.
Tobin further analyzes the survey as a whole, North Carolinians seem somewhat pessimistic about the general direction of the state. It s interesting to see Charlotte, with its generally strong economy and higher incomes, being the most pessimistic about the state s direction. In the early fall, we ll ask the right track/wrong track questions again in North Carolina and see if people s moods have changed.
